Time To Suspend Canada's Commonwealth Membership
Justin Trudeau Needs Treating As The Political Pariah He's Acting As
Since announcing his unprecedented draconian measures against his own citizens by the Canadian Premier, Justin Trudeau, I’ve struggled to decide which I have found more shocking, the measures themselves or the complete silence and lack of reaction to them from every Western Government and virtually every legacy media outlet.
Not content with smearing them with every tag in Hillary Clinton’s infamous dictionary of “deplorables”, strange how hate speech only exists when sent in one particular ideological direction with even an opposing Jewish MP on the Conservative benches smeared as a Nazi by Trudeau, the protesting truckers have not only had their own bank accounts frozen without the need for a Court Order authorising it first, so have anyone else who has offered them any support, including people who legally donated to crowd funding campaigns to fund the protests or individuals and businesses who supported them. Even worse, details of individuals making donations have been hacked from websites and leaked to Canadian and American newspapers who’ve gleefully published them and then sat back and watched individuals and businesses being harassed, some to the point of having to close.
The measures enacted by Trudeau stand in very stark contrast to his response to other far more violent protests in the last 2 years, many of which seemingly had the seal of approval from Trudeau and his supporters. One of those was the notorious Kamloops demonstrations where supposedly mass graves were discovered of indigenous children but which later transpired to be mere tree stumps, as reported by the Dorchester Review on 11th January 2022. And of course before that there were the widespread riots following the death of George Floyd. Despite widespread looting and vandalism, including the toppling of an historic statue of Queen Victoria, Trudeau’s police stood idly by and did nothing.
Trudeau’s measures against the truckers and their supporters and the way he enacted emergency legislation, not only without Parliamentary approval, but even including closing down Canada’s Federal Parliament itself whilst doing so, is an act of unprecedented authoritarianism not seen in any Western democracy in living memory yet Western leaders continue to keep silent on the matter.
When one glances at the number of members of Trudeau’s Cabinet, including his deputy, Chrystia Freeland, who are members of the World Economic Forum’s so-called panel of Young Global Leaders, and also their fellow members up to their elbows in repressive covid measures too, such as Jacinda Ardern and Emmanuel Macron, one can possibly see an explanation for the silence of certain world leaders over Trudeau’s measures. Freeland indeed, at a recent press conference, seemed to almost be salivating at the prospect of seizing the life savings of the truckers and of anyone who had the temerity to give any aid to them. We certainly seem right to have serious concerns about what the agenda of the World Economic Forum really is. Citizens’ freedoms and liberties, plus equality under the law, certainly don’t appear to be part of that agenda.
However this continuing inaction is not good enough. A far more robust response is called for in support of our beleaguered fellow citizens of the Commonwealth in Canada. Meekly looking the other way as has largely been done over the treatment by China of our fellow citizens in Hong Kong is just not good enough. In past times other Commonwealth members have had their memberships suspended for not following the rule of law and when attacking their own citizens. Zimbabwe, South Africa, Fiji and Pakistan all had their memberships suspended at various times until democracy and some semblance of the rule of law was allowed to prevail.
Why should Canada be treated any differently? The time has come to do likewise with Trudeau’s Canada, to treat him as the pariah that he should be, and to expel Canada from the Commonwealth too until Trudeau’s regime is driven from office and the rule of law restored in full.
